People often ask me how I’m finding London… on the whole I like it, of course I say this excluding the fact most mornings when I get up its below 0 and the sun starts setting at about 3pm. The hustle and bustle can be fun and energizing, a sort of reminder that your living in a city where anything is possible….but then there are days when facing yet another queue or topping up my travel card or paying rent is beyond depressing. The sheer size and population of this city still baffles me on a daily basis.
It seems like January here is more of a hibernation month, where people try and rescue their abused bank accounts and waistlines, a far cry from what January is in NZ; music festival, road trips, cold beers on the deck, camping, sunset ocean swims, yes people I see your facebook photos….At least here they know how ‘to do’ winter, shops sell jackets and coats that ACTUALLY keep you warm at reasonable prices, shops and bars are heated and there is a special comradery between everyone on those especially icy days. Yet I am still counting down the days until spring comes and I can go gallivanting through more of Europe.
My favorite thing about London is that you can pretty much find anything you want, from clothes, to restaurants, events, courses. I manged to find a Special FX make up course that fits in with my weird and wonderful work schedule perfectly. So far its great and I’m loving doing something creative again…
This month, I’ve been to some awesome restaurants and bars, have been to the theater, relaxed in some very cool cinemas and been lucky enough to have several kiwi visitors!
Christmas tree recycling…
Lyceum Theatre – The Lion King
Some general awesomness…
Oh yeh and then there was the wax museum…
Then one Sunday I decided to go to the Museum of Childhood to look at their new doll house exhibition…
