German Lakes with a side of Zurich

In the summer of 2018 we decided to take a break from the normal beach side holiday and explore what the Germans had to offer with their pretty lakes…

As you can imagine, there was no direct flights to the lakes so we had to get a bus from the near by neighbouring city of … Zurich!

We really liked Zurich, it had a simple European elegance about it, stylish and organised, classic Swiss you might say?

The first stop was the university town of Konstanz, here we spent a couple of days before we took a boat and hoped along the lakes coast visiting other towns including Meersburg and Lindau.

One of the first things we did was a 14 mile (30,000 steps) hike through the forest which was very pretty, however a little bit of an anti climax at the end as it officially ended in some random suburban road!
